Smithson Valley Health Science Students Collect Gold, Silver, Bronze at SkillsUSA State Competition

April 25, 2025 - Collectively, 15 health science students from Smithson Valley High School earned 11 gold, eight silver and one bronze at the state SkillsUSA competition this spring with one student defending her state title and earning her second trip to the national competition.

That student, Clarissa Wallace, earned three gold medals this year at the state competition, defended her state title in Practical Nursing and qualified for the national contest while also earning a gold in Community Service and in Outstanding SkillsUSA Member. She was elected as a District 10 officer as well.

The SVHS CTE health science teacher is Dr. Jennifer Carrillo.
